MHM 15: Greetings from Austin!

Hey all! Guess where we are?? We’re enjoying our last morning in Austin, TX!

MHMBannerWe’re writing this a bit ahead of time to get you the Mash-Up on Monday, but we’re pretty sure the conference went awesome and we met some wonderful people! We’ll tell you a bit more about that next week.

For the time being we wanted to share some COM|PASSionate Consent Worksheets we made for our little Queering Consent Playshop at the Contemporary Relationships Conference this past weekend!

First up! COM|PASSionate Preference Exploration Flow Chart

While “No, means, NO,” is an important place to start in any consent conversation we realize that their are a multitude of layers underlying our ability to say, NO, clearly when we need to. There are also a multitude of layers that inhibit us from saying, YES, when we want to. This cycle multiplies and complicates with each level of intersection- especially for queer folks who spend a lot of time being told they’re… well, queer (and not in the good way.) This COM|PASSionate Preference Chart can be used to neutralize and explore your interests, preferences, inclinations and, all out, turn ons. It’s a starting point to “getting down with your desires and under the covers with your body boundaries,” so you can start a dialogue with your body that informs how you articulate personal consent.

Now that you’ve flow-charted your way through any preferences that need a little more exploration you might want to start thinking about what your body/language/preference boundaries are over all. This chart can help you get organized about boundaries you might want to hold for yourself as well as things you might want to express to current or future partner|s.

This is a quick way to document your preferences and boundaries for yourself or to share with a partner. This list is moveable, changeable and expires at the writer’s will!

So, until next time, we hope that you all have a wonderful week of consensual and fulfilling play and exploration with yourself and others!

Lastly, if you’re still confused about consent but understand the etiquette of tea (or if you’re anyone on this planet that interacts with anyone else on the planet) watch this video:

COM|PASSionate Events

Happy Friday REVOLUTIONARIES! We’re posting events early this week to remind you that registration for the Contemporary Relationships Conference closes at midnight!

We’ve been on an upswing back into a normal schedule of productivity. Hustling and bustling about. Dreams of community gatherings dancing in our heads. We want this space to feel stable, consistent, present but we also want to be present in ourselves so we can share those experiences here.

With that in mind we’re meditating on how to create balance in our schedules. We want to pause and simmer and lie still.

We want to take time to waste time.

We want to commit, not only to take a road less traveled, but to wander off the road all together.

We want to let our hair fall down, let our heads rest still, feel warm concrete beneath us, and throw concerns of pristine cleanliness to the wind. An adventurers garb should be covered in dirt when the dust settles from a good story waiting to be re-told.

Pause, simmer, repeat, REVOLUTIONARIES.

Happy Friday REVOLUTIONARIES!

Life has been busy. Master plans have been made, re-made and tossed aside. We’ve been meditating on the importance of staying grounded and the magic healing power of getting swept away.

Temperance and deep breaths, friends. Temperance and deep breaths seems to be the ticket.

We hope you take time to get lost in dreamland and scrawl some love notes to yourself. Whether your love notes are a yoga class when your to do list is growing, a pause to switch on a lamp and journal when your day is dark or childlike chalk doodles where there could be neat clean sidewalk we encourage you to write with abandon! Place your love notes out in front of you, breathe them in, scatter them carelessly around your heart space and check in with which ones make you soar the highest… when you find them… write those love notes three more times…. scatter again…. repeat.
